Camper Care Team
CAMPER CARE TEAM
Our Camper Care team is led by our Assistant Director Justin Shulman, who is the Principal of Knoxdale Public School during the off-season. Camper Care is an essential in-camp group made up of adult educators and mental health professionals, in addition to university level supervisors. Their roles include everything from helping to brush a junior camper’s hair, to creating bedtime routines with cabin staff, to offering special tips and tricks when dealing with homesickness. Team members also work to ensure that all campers and staff are well-grounded and have a strong sense of belonging during their stay at camp.
Meet our amazing line-up of Camper Care professionals for summer 2024:

Alison Gussman
CAMPER CARE COORDINATOR
Alison is an Education Assistant at Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB). For over 30 years she has been working with children with a variety of needs. Alison’s compassion and caring nature will help create a safe and comforting environment to all campers and staff. She is really looking forward to the Camp B’nai Brith experience, as she was a camper at CBB many years ago. Alison will be at camp all summer long, and can’t wait to meet everyone!

Melanie Gampel
CAMPER CARE SPECIALIST
Melanie Gampel has spent over 15 years as a Registered Psychotherapist and professor in Social Service Work. Melanie spent 13 years as a camper and camp counsellor, is an active member of the Jewish Community, and is a mom to incredible twins and a spunky dog. She is thrilled to be joining the Camper Care team at CBB for two weeks this summer, and can’t wait to work in an environment that blends together so many of her passions: camp, the outdoors, supporting people, awesome activities, and Judaism!

Jacklyn Friedberg
Camper Care Supervisor
Jacklyn is from Montreal and is currently in her third year at Concordia, majoring in Chemistry. She is so excited to spend her summer at CBB again! Since she started as a first-year B Girl, she has loved the activities, excitement, and community at camp, and this will be her 11th summer up in Quyon. After spending three years on A Girls as a counsellor and supervisor, she is very eager to take on her second year as a Camper Care Supervisor! Jacklyn is most excited to meet new campers, connect with returning campers, and make incredible and fun memories for summer 2024!
